About the event
The September Chapter Ride will be at Buckskin Gulch on Saturday, September 14th. The trail is just under 10 miles and approximately 4 hours long. The trail is rated easy. This trail requires a permit and groups are limited so this chapter ride is limited to Southwest members only. The chapter will cover the day use fee so you MUST RSVP so we know how many are coming. As we are riding in a slot canyon we will need to keep an eye on the weather and will cancel if there is any rain forecasted, so again it is important to RSVP so you can receive any updates. Due to warmer temperatures we will begin this ride at 10:00 a.m. sharp
Several of us will be staying with our horses at the Pariah River Ranch on Friday night which is about 5 miles further down HWY 89. Please contact Stephanie Seaholm (323-347-9185) if you are interested in making a reservation. They have covered horse stalls, dry camping, rv hookups, and other accommodations. Tell them you are with the Back Country Horsemen. Pariah River Ranch website
Buckskin Gulch trailhead is just over 40 miles east of Kanab (on Hwy 89 towards Lake Powell). Driving time from St George is about 2 1/2 hrs. Please plan accordingly so you are ready and in the saddle before 10:00 am. Bring water for you and your animal, hat and a lunch.
Directions: From Kanab, UT drive 37 miles east on Highway 89. Any questions, please call/text Jeanette Blasdell (818) 415-1305.
